Rest, recover and resupply,

Waking up this morning in a nice warm bed, I was glad that I made it to the lodge ahead of schedule as well as the storm the rolled through overnight. I am super proud of my efforts over the last three days, pushing on and advancing two days ahead of schedule. Rough numbers from the last three days were 10 hours, 26km followed by 8.5 hours, 29km plus yesterday’s 7.5 hours, 25km. Sure, the Hamster had to supply some of his own paperwork as well for the Haaikie to burn down in the “boiler room”, but I am here, not in too bad shape and proud of my achievement.
Today it is about getting things clean and dry, doing laundry, sorting out my food for the next couple of days and oh, putting my feet up. The weather is improving again so I got it all done quickly thanks to the help and facilities from the lodge. Updating this blog is also on the list of things to do, as long as my feet can stay in the air.
I love the feeling of the lodge, the staff seems super helpful and laid back (thank you for being flexible and changing my booking) and the you get a sense of history in everything you see and touch. I would have loved to listen to these walls if they could talk.
I also had an unexpected and exceptionally great time in the bar tonight, meeting some of the locals here that have invested more than their time and money into Lake Ohau and the lodge, but their hearts and souls. Thanks to Matt and Lisa, for giving this place the heartbeat it deserves. Such a great conversation and listening to how other people’s life doesn’t always go to plan as well, but making it through.
