The super city, of sails,

I started off early this morning, keeping to the eastern suburbs of Auckland, taking the bus down to St Heliers Beach. Not sure I could have asked for a better day to be honest. Just walking through the small streets, absorbing the atmosphere and poking my nose into some of the shops. It is surprising some of the old buildings still in use by the public service of New Zealand, like this library, built in the 1920ees to be a fire station and then converted and opened as a public library in 1931.  Almost 100 years of books, if only the walls could tell their story.
Walked further on, visiting Kohimarama Beach and then on to Mission Bay.  Seems like this is the place to be with all the sailing clubs out on the water.  So much sailing going on today. Up the hill to Bastion Point with its gardens and lawn of the Michael Joseph Savage Memorial.  A great place to take time out and admire part of the Auckland skyline.
The day went on, and soon I ended up in the city center at the viaduct.  I had lunch and took the bus to Eden Park stadium, joining what seemed to be a sea of people, most of them dressed in pink.  I knew the concert was going to be big, but wow, it was a BIG. It was an awesome performance and a great night out, I am so privileged to have been a part of it.
