My harmonica lesson.

Today was busy, starting with my first one-on-one harmonica lesson,

It was both exciting and intimidating at the same time, but well worth going.  Dave, is a local Christchurch artist, teaching a couple of instruments from his home and also performing and writing songs.  I had some questions regarding the instrument and was stuck, trying to make progress.  Dave was great, showing me some good techniques as well as providing me with more material to read, including a couple of great YouTube channels to follow.  He also taught me the first couple of bars of the “Piano Man” by Billy Joel.  All in all, an awesome experience and I will be back once I can play the single notes on the harmonica well enough to start bending.  Practice, practice, practice.

Lesson over, after a meditation session with Emily, it was off to donate plasma at the NZ Blood Service.  I am stepping up my donation cadence at the moment to compensate for the fact that I will be out of the country for 3 months later in the year.  I will also have a holdoff period once I return, so I am trying to make my own personal 12 donation goal for the year.

Finally a note to myself…  I asked a pretty deep and open ended question today, aimed at a special friend which invoked an interesting and perhaps a little disturbing response.  I need to remind myself not to analyse other people too much and treat their privacy with respect and dignity.  Not everyone is as open about everything as I am, so step lightly Phil… friends are far and few.

  1. Mmm.. Progress .. note by note “-)

    Deep and open ended questions..
Is not always the question that invokes..
It is how it is asked that might invoke..
Eg.. words, face to face (where a person can see your face expressions.. which is probably the best way), or a phone call, whatsapp, etc..
