I think I am over the worst of my flu.

Don’t get me wrong, I am still feeling pretty “musty”,

I took it easy today, only working on the easy stuff that are left to do for my trip.  Somehow my “little” to do list is only getting longer, but I will crack on.  Veg voort dapper held!

There is a small daffodil in my front garden that popped up real early this year.  Currently it is blooming, even though we are most certainly very much still in winter.  It got me thinking, about the fact that I will miss out, amongst other things, on the Christchurch daffodil season later this year.  With all the planning going on surrounding my trip, I forgot to think about the fact that I will be away from my own home and my friends here.  Yes, to a degree Cape Town will always feel like a certain kind of “home”, but Christchurch, my friends and my address here is where my heart is, “home”.  The place I can put my feet on the couch, make a mess in the kitchen to only clean up the next day and stay in bed, in my comfy linen, while watching the sunrise.  I am sure you all know the feeling, and where your “home” truly is.

I remember the first time, flying back from Australia on my permanent residency visa, the border control officer at Christchurch airport said to me: “Welcome home”.  I just about broke down in tears, feeling like, for the first time in a loooong time, this is the place where I belong.  I forgot, that while on my international trip for the next three and a bit months, I will certainly be missing home, my home and not to mention all my friends here in Christchurch NZ.
