It seems like everything is suddenly coming to an end,
Back to my grindstones today, focusing mostly on the vintage fuel pump. While I was away, dad put in a massive effort and spray-painted the base of the pump with primer. All the rust is gone and the base (or foot) of the pump is looking a thousand times better. I found a picture online of an almost identical looking pump at Matjiesfontein because I totally forgot to take any pictures of my one today. Silly me LOL. We fitted the pump section back into the enclosure and cleaned everything before packing the glass tubes in sponge, to ensure they make the trip to NZ. This thing is crazy heavy, but we managed to wrap and move it to one side, ready to go on the back of the ute on Thursday. I basically plan to make one gigantic, vintage looking, stationary lamp from it… will see if it pans out.
Then I confirmed the car-loading-into-the-container day with the shipping company today. It is going to be this coming Friday, the 25th of October. Weather is looking good and everything will be ready by then. Even if the ship is delayed again, we will keep this date. I only have a week and a bit left in the country, so time to make a stand. I seriously cannot believe we are this close to exporting the car.
Other than “all of the above”, I am acutely aware that my time is evaporating fast and that I am saying goodbye to many people and things again… for the next little bit. I just don’t know if I will see them again, so I am saying goodbye… even to the cat of my mom.
To be honest, he didn’t look phased at all, laying outside with no care in the world… and missing a leg. Me on the other hand was sitting down next to him and specifically greeting him, spending the time to say goodbye. This is getting real, my international trip coming to an end.

Kitter Kat.. are they ever phased 🙂
Time is evaporating indeed..
Goodbyes are never easy 🙁
I hope the lamp comes together as well. Will have to see.
When you “basically plan to make one gigantic, vintage looking, stationary lamp from it” (the pump) I’m sure you will not be overlooking the not insignificant crack in the living room floor at your home in Ceres when you crane the renovated pump into your house in New Zealand! 🙃
After the pump has been installed you will probably be linking it to a supply of Coca Cola. (I was going to say Coke but people might get the wrong idea)
Ha ha… yes, this thing might end up weighing down the foundation on one end. LOL, maybe, time will tell.
Haha Cliff…
I can imagine the supply of Coca Cola being linked!
“-))
Hmmm… another engineering project.
Is that Mr Gingles??…
I presume you mean “Mr Jingles” from Lake Tekapo… and No. LOL
