The car is in the container, all loaded and good to go, believe it,

Right, this is all coming together to a point now.  I can honestly not believe we are here.  After so many months of planning we actually made it.  We checked the water and oil before I started the other Ford ute this morning pulling the trailer with the car all the way to Cape Town.  I think dad and I would have both loved to drive the car to Cape Town, but in an attempt to keep it clean and tidy, we are taking it on the trailer.  The situation feels a little like an old comic strip that I saw once and found again on an old drive…
“Anyhow”, we started the journey to Cape Town and stopped for a well deserved drink before hitting the busy streets of Goodwood and Epping Industria.
We made it through all the security and gates to the final place where the empty shipping container were waiting for us to occupy.  The team at the shipping company made quick work of repacking all the car parts, fuel pump and other household pieces before they loaded the items and secured them in the front of the container.  Then it was the car’s turn, me driving it into the container directly from the trailer.  She fitted (just) and dad assisted me squeezing out of the car… after parking her for the final time in RSA and leaving the key on the floor.
The staff strapped her down and soon after dad and I gave her a quick check, disconnected the battery and fitted a notice or two.  We covered her with a fresh (blanket) and I said goodbye, silently, saying that I will see her on the other side… in the land of the long white cloud, her new home.

Absolutely … surreal.  Honestly I do not know how to feel, leaving Cape Town, driving back with an empty trailer having ticked off the final thing from my to-do list in South Africa.  Seriously, so many emotions, to keep score including joy, sadness, relief, anxiety, all very conflicting emotions and tied to oh so many memories.  This is not just a car but a story that will continue with me.  Staying the course while remembering that I am officially 100 days away from Christchurch, and missing my home.
