Showing off the beauty of the place I call home,
We were up NOT too early this morning, staying true to not setting alarms or watching clocks. Loaded up the ute with some basics and hit the road, heading south out of Christchruch. Over the bridge and the Rakaia river, through Ashburton and then turning right towards Peel and the forest behind. Stop for a coffee and a light breakfast (topup) before taking a quick walk in the forest to see (and smell and lick) some trees. BIG trees.
After the visit to the forest, we made a real stop for a proper cooked breakfast in Geraldine. It was nice to experience some small town hospitality, sit back and relax in the garden outside. Onwards for a quick stop at the Fairlie pie shop (to obtain snacks for later) and then around the corner to be met with the sight of glacier fed lakes and never ending mountains. “Tekapo Baby!”… the view never gets old to be honest. On to Lake Pukaki to stop at the lookout point and hunt for a Geocache.
Then we stopped at Aoraki, Mount Cook… first peeking in at the visitor center before taking a short walk to the first swing bridge. Bee had to conquer some of her fears to ensure we get a selfie on the bridge. (<-Good on you)

Geocache – had to go google ‘-)
Yes, you have to ask Bee about the tree licking thing… I think she has photo’s. She is also the one doing the Geocache-ing.
I own two Geo Caches in New Zealand!
Unfortunately we didn’t have time to visit any of yours… maybe next time Cliff.
