Levin. . .

Taking a rest day and seeing what Levin has to offer,

When I started walking north from Wellington, I could clearly sense that things are changing.  The people, the culture and how things in general are “done”.  Nothing bad, but most certainly different and I admired this surprise I got out of the trail, experiencing this gradual change in the place that I call home.  I am glad to be in Levin today, being dry and out of the rain is a godsend.  I am also happy to be clean and warm for a change, sleeping under a sheet, fresh laundry and those kind of little things… LOL.

I had a walk through Levin today, collecting a few things I need for my onwards trip tomorrow and getting a feel for the place.  Wow, lots of traffic, and maybe it is because everyone I spoke to said… “Levin: I have driven through there before.”  What can I say, well, hmmm, the place certainly reminds me of small town, rural with a train station and supporting agricultural kind of place.  There are certainly problems here as well, but show me a small town that doesn’t have those.  To me it seems in dire need of planned development, but what do I know.
I stayed out of the rain today, walking as little as possible and getting everything I need for my 4-5 day trip to Palmeston North tomorrow.  There is more rain incoming, so I might be a day early, or a day late… depending on what I decide to do  Happy that I came here, and happy to be moving on tomorrow… back on the trail.
