And also taking a little (not so well deserved) rest,
I continued the work in the garden this morning in between the wild weather we had today. Wind, crazy wind in between sunshine showers… really weird. It wasn’t nice to be out there, but every little bit helps. Looks like the netting might work on the bark, so I managed to do another small section today, and ticked off cleaning another section at the back too. Collected a load of fresh bark as well, to cover some lean spots where the weeds were starting to take chances.
Then I updated my north island map in the living room with my progress on the trail. I have to be honest and say that the ~500km north island stint does look like something. I did experience and see a couple of places plus taking a good chunk out of the trail. I haven’t completed as much as I wanted but it is nothing to be ashamed of. I am still working through the photos before putting them up.

We use netting over the bark chips and it works perfectly. Just make sure there’s no dormant plants waiting to burst their way through. Then you just need to cut small holes to let them through.
Cool. It seems to work. I did some more sections today.
