Getting ON with things,
First order of business today was dismantling grandma’s porch bench. Looking at it, I can still see her sitting on the porch of her home, in the afternoon sun with the radio playing next to her (<-listening to the Radio Sonder Grense daily story) I remember it being painted white, but then it changed to a varnished look later, not sure when. I sanded and varnished it too once, back in Cape Town but feel sad that I have neglected it a little after that. BUT, I have time now, so will do my best to make it look brand new. The wood as very rotten away near the coach bolts, so I had to borrow a tool from a friend to grind them off. Quick work and moments later it was all in pieces.
The galvanising on the frame still looks very good, so I have decided to only clean it gently and do a little touch-up here and there. The wood I have decided to replace, it feels like it is time to do so and I also would like to make the bench a little shorter, to fit a specific place here at my home. The mounting holes in the existing wood just does not work if I want to make it shorter, so I will spend a little money and replace it. The memories attached to the bench will still remain, even with new wood… plus it will look nice and spiffy.
I spent more time in the garden… this time in the gamma quadrant. It is a Star Trek term I use for a specific section in my garden that I do not like. I don’t like to spend time there, don’t like to go there and seldom even look that way. So I neglect that part mostly… to the relief of the weeds growing there. Cleaning up and making things less. Ripping out a couple of things and making a run to the “tip” (<-the drop-off) as well.
Late afternoon I faded a little on the couch in front of the tv, but it is okay (<-trying not to judge myself too much). I took care of a couple of things today and it is Saturday right, so taking a break after the week. I also had a call with Skylar and things seems to be progressing nicely. I just wish there weren’t an ocean between us, ugh.

Next time you look at the Gamma Quadrant, get Spock to beam you up.
Haha… no he can leave me here, just beam up the weeds.
grandma’s porch bench – looking good – great memory to have.
gamma quadrant … I googled this when you first mentioned it .. “-)
Might be Star Trek but also part of the Milky Way – which you probably know already
“The Gamma Quadrant is the common designation for one quarter of the Milky Way Galaxy. Its boundary is defined by a meridian passing through the galactic core and the Sol System, and a second meridian perpendicular at the core. Its closest point to Earth is located approximately 30,000 light years away. However, the stable Bajoran wormhole links the Idran system in the Gamma Quadrant with the Bajoran system in the Alpha Quadrant”
Why do you not like that part of the Garden ? “-)
I did not know it was real.
I just don’t like that part, it is big and far away and use to be full of weeds…
It also didn’t help that I did not spend a lot of time there.
