Riverton to Colac Bay – Day 3

What feels like a holi-day today,

Easy stroll to Colac Bay from a significantly better looking Riverton this morning. Only 12-ish kilometres and no significant climbs to the sleepy village of Colac Bay.

It is beautiful down here, such a pristine coast line and it makes for ever-changing walking conditions. From sheep paddocks to rocky cliffs with sand and pebble beaches in between.
Days like today is why I came here (or doing this)… so that my soul can take a stroll as well.
Feeling fairly relaxed, tenting tonight and I should be up and on my way tomorrow morning before the rain sets in.  Tomorrow is the first real “hill climb” to my first DOC hut in Southland, so will see how it goes… (insert nervous hmmm here)

  1. Looks great Phil, have you spotted any monster wave down there? looks pretty flat…. I am just about to start Monday maintenance, I bet you don’t miss dealing with “Monday morning slotted trunking”. hehehe keep enjoying yourself.

    • Hi Nicolas, to be honest, it was a pretty calm day on the ocean. There were a hand full of surfers trying out the waves, but it didn’t look magical. To be honest about the slotted trunking, there are mixed feelings. Let me know if you need a hand, let a professional come show you how it is done.

    • Hi Karon. I try not to keep track of numbers. Weather and terrain conditions can make thing harder than it looks on paper.
