A better day, lots of “completes”.

Yesterday our list just got longer, time to cross stuff off,

I learned from an old boss, every morning is a new day with yesterdays problems in the past.  So, with my “lets get going” attitude I started the day.  I cleaned and polished the body panels and cavities in front of the windscreen to ensure they ready for fitting back the wiper motor and mechanisms.  Dad inspected and lubricated the the window wiper motor and fitted it back in place.  I cleaned and polished the grill/air intake piece before closing up that front cavity.

I sprayed the final, black, top coat on the battery box and cleaned and polished the inside engine bay section before fitting back the modified battery box, battery and hooking it all up.  With the battery back, we checked the window wiper motor with controls and things and everything looked good to fit the wipers back.  We checked that all the lights are working, including the rear number plate light that we replaced earlier in the week, great.  I replaced a funky old flicker unit ensuring the indicators or flashing consistently and bright now too.  One dash instrumentation light, behind the RPM meter is out, but I we will replace it on a later date… once I found a bulb.

I vacuumed the inside cavities of the remaining doors, removing dirt and seeds for the New Zealand MPI inspections.  Fitted all the remaining interior trim and panels on the doors and cleaned all the windows.
The day was going great, and I felt a sense of progress, removing the 1999 licence disk from the front window.  Also cleaned the roof, but still looking for the correct polish to coat the vinyl top and make it resistant to the weather.
Best news of the day… that leak is dry and gone, and hopefully just something we spilled or leaked earlier that ran down and dripped on the floor yesterday when we lifted the car at a funny angle.  In the end, a day with lots of “completes”…  Great feeling tonight, tired, going to bed early-ish.

  1. Sjoewee..
    What a week!

I’m quite in awe.. ie reading about all the technicality behind this and You and your Dad doing all this by yourselves..

    Ups and downs
    Frustrations
Emotions (even I got emotional reading this weeks’ blogs)

    Completes it is “-)

The Universe definitely seemed to pull it together for you in the end..

Can fully comprehend that you were drained on all levels by the end of the week!

Do try and rest up for a little while..

This beauty is truly a special one!

    • Yes Urvi, lots of emotions everywhere. It is a big task at hand, but thinking about it, it was my dad’s car for just about ~50 years and now it will hopefully be mine for the next 50 years. Genuinely a handover in style of the word Ford.
