A little tour-rest day.

And checking out the mountains and the trail ahead,

I travelled back to Waikanae this morning, on a little bit of a mission to knock off some kilometres of tomorrow’s stint.  My plan didn’t work unfortunately but I did get a sense of the trail ahead, and the mountains in the mist beyond that.  I think the right words to describe my tone are anxiously excited… or stupidly optimistic or maybe I am just questioning myself all over again.  I made some adjustments to my schedule and I need to trust the fact that it will all work out…
So, with all that out of the way, I ran a couple of errands, stocked up the backpack and made like a tourist, revisiting most of the “P”-towns I have been walking through the past couple of days.  Made a stop at the Southward Car Museum to have a peek as well… if you are interested, more here: Southward Car Museum.  Interesting to see how design can vary from one era to the next, and from one person to another… take these three examples.
I made some other stops too, visiting the Queen Elizabeth Park again and having lunch by the ocean.  Getting home, I found myself feeling ‘beat’ for some reason.  Maybe I should have been on the trail today, and not have taken the break… or perhaps Gloria Estefan was right and “The rhythm is gonna get you, and me”. Either way, getting my things together, saying goodbye to my nice accommodation (thanks to Dean and his wife) and my city runaround car as well as Wellington public transport.  Saying goodbye to this view too, such a nice way to wind down after the day, a retreat in the middle of Wellington.

  1. I enjoyed going through the Gallery of the Southward Car Museum – I love vintage cars as you know – this made me think of the Franschhoek Motor Museum where I’ve been a few times – https://www.fmm.co.za/
The three examples you posted – very back to the future looks – LOL

You needed the wind down day – and yes nice view to finish off the day ..
You’ve done some hectic km’s already – so you will feel a little “beat” physically and then mentally as well – you did not have much time to “recoop” from your travels prior to starting the trail again ..

Take it easy on yourself “-)
