Background,
In 2011, I had the (shall I call it privilege?) to spend a couple of months in, mostly Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. One thing I quickly learned was that every single person, man, woman or child had a “bilum” or a string bag, which is what it is called in English.
There is a little bit more about it here: Bilum: The Backbone of Papua New Guinea — Google Arts & Culture
Soon I was converted too, and ever since then, I always carried a bag to keep all sorts of things like my keys, phone(s), glasses, documents and what-not-if-else. Every 2 to 3 years it is quite a mission to find the next suitable model to carry on the tradition and it has been looong overdue.
So with my trip in mind, and the fact that I will be carrying a large backpack around for most of the year, I finally decided to purchase a minimalistic lightweight one.
