An action-less, action day (AAA).

Full of hope for a great flying day, but it didn’t turn out to be,

Clint and I were up early this morning, beating (most of) the traffic and getting up to Sir Lowry’s Pass before 9am.  It was over the back as predicted, so we pushed on and stopped at one of the road side restaurants on the way to Hermanus for breakfast.

When we got to Hermanus, the weather was looking a little different than expected, so we visited the far side of Hermanus, looking at possible other landing locations if we decided to take it cross country today while in the air.  We went up to launch and met up with some other pilots… but this was unfortunately the end of the action for the day.  We spent the rest of the day pointing at things… like clouds and rain and trees and birds and whales and what-not-if-else but flying conditions eluded us unfortunately.

In the end, I had to point at stuff while Clint was taking a photo, just to make it an action photo.  Did I say that this is “Monty”, our rental car, in the picture above?  We went down into town for some coffee and a pie, before making one more visit to launch…  No change, so we decided to leave, driving back the looong road next to the coast.  We came across a road vehicle accident as well, happened almost in front of us.  I stopped and double back and Clint made sure people were out of the car while other bystanders called for help.  I felt a little helpless, but what can I do… lucky to be alive, living in the moment.  The day felt a little bit like a bust, but there is nothing we could have done differently.  It is part of the sport.
