Immigration is not easy, or cheap, or quick,
I managed to take another step in my immigration journey to New Zealand today. Looking back, what a tough, turmoil and expensive time it was with so many steps and hurdles to clear. The uncertainty the pandemic brought also did not help the situation at all.
I am crossing fingers that today’s step is my second to last step with the end now clearly in sight.
I love this place and call New Zealand home at the moment. I remember vividly the first time I came back to NZ and the border control official said to me, “Welcome home”. It took a lot not to breakdown in tears, realising what that actually meant. Having said all this, I still miss home somedays, and a certain part of me will always call Cape Town that “home”. I believe that every place I go in life makes some kind of imprint on me, on my soul, and a little bit of my spirit stays behind to enjoy- and remind me of the experience.

Baie dankie Linda. Ek is seker alles sal uitwerk.
We started our journeys almost at the same time, just in different countries on different continents. I agree with all of your comments. They are true for me as well. It is a good way to celebrate your 5 years in this way. I am planning to publish a book with my reflections for my 5 year celebration. I will follow your journey! Enjoy every step of it.
Exciting news Emsia. Look forward to reading it. Best wishes.
