Still a little surreal to be honest,
After what felt like a short (~3hour) flight I made it all the way to Christchurch. Not so lucky this time, having an open seat opposite the isle from me, not next to me… LOL. Anyhow, I think the universe has done me enough favours and knew I will make it home. I can really do with a coke at this time, but am stepping away from that too, cutting back a little.
Clint was kind enough to pick me up from the airport in the wee hours of the night. Met him with a big hug and after dropping me off at home, it finally started to settle in… I am back home. Dropped everything in the garage and undressed so that I could walk into my bedroom naked, ready for that shower and my bed. So great to be home, my home, my space, my sounds. Slept.
A beautiful day here in Christchurch and I started all the post travel tasks. Emily left my home in a great and clean condition, so I only had to focus on the laundry and the garden. Made a quick stop at the store to pick up some basic supplies and taking it easy, making sure to put in an afternoon nap. Many thoughts in my head, could have, should have, must have, if, but, maybe, then, else… making a post analysis of my international trip. More?

I might have to get my reconstructed shoulder reconstructed after your imense ‘welcome home’ hug, but hey it was great to see the ‘smile on your dial’ when I dropped you off at home.
There’s more good weather in the pipeline to make sure you feel at home.
Thanks for collecting me at the airport Cliff. You are a star… and my tab keeps growing.
Home Sweet Home!
Finally – YAY!
Just take it easy for a bit Phil – give yourself time with the thoughts in your head “-)
“Dropped everything in the garage and undressed so that I could walk into my bedroom naked, ready for that shower and my bed”
I probably would have done the same – it’s like a big release/relief from just all of it – suddenly “-)
ps – what is that colourful artwork and “house” about? looks interesting ‘-)
Yes, feels quite free-ing to walk into your house, naked as the day you were born.
About the artwork… This is from the Christchurch Airport website: “Cumulus Gate Pavilion for Richard Pearse – Another artistic celebration of South Island inventor Richard Pearse, this reflective sculpture is made up of 1,000 pieces of hand-cut stainless steel, held in place by 8,000 bolts. Located in the airport plaza, this impressive piece of artistic engineering has been designed to mirror the sky by day and the footlights by night.” It just remind me that I am home.
And the picture is of my home, still standing thanks to Emily.
