Exploring a little bit of the town this morning,

I spent the day-ish in Blenheim, walking around, visiting some of the parks and peeking into a shop or two while I was there.  I wanted to get a sense of the place even though I thought my mind about the job opportunity was made up.  Yes, I am pretty confident I am going to withdraw my application based on a couple of reasons:  Size of the business.  Workmanship.  Confidence in the product.  Blenheim.  Cost of relocations and ultimately the future… of the business and me.  Sad, but I have to be honest with myself here… this is a BIG step.

I briefly looked at the accommodation options I setup earlier in the week, but I was no longer committed, so didn’t feel really invested anymore.  Stopped at my favorite chocolate shop in NZ to pick up a few goodies for the Haaikie (and my USA trip if they make it), but the Hamster stayed in control of the list and kept the Haaikie on a tight leash.  (<-NOT ringing up the whole shop)  Stopped at one of the parks to sit down and make some calls home before getting in my ute and saying goodbye to Blenheim.

It felt like a loooong drive home… lots of traffic, campers and trucks and such a complete opposite experience compared to yesterday morning.  I made it home safe in about 4 hours and was glad to be home.  Tough decision, not taking the job… and still not sure how to break the news to the company but I will get some sleep and deal with it in the morning.
