All the way to Cape Town and back for an important collection,

Dad, mom and I drove to Cape Town this morning, just for them to throw me out at the airport in time to collect Clint.  Wow, lots of emotions from me, seeing a good friend and familiar face after such a long while.  So much to catch up on.  Last time I spoke to Clint in person was on 18 July 2024, when I left Christchurch and NZ.  We picked up a rental car for our journey through the Western Cape during the next two weeks and I hit the road back to Ceres.  Clint was doing remarkably well, coping with the jetlag and we spent time in the afternoon at home checking our flying gear while making plans, where to fly tomorrow.

On a side note, while going through some things yesterday, I found my first ever school suitcase.  Opening it up, it was strange to see a sticker of Hang-gliders that I remember sticking in there back in 1988… and writing my name on it.  Wow, maybe I was preparing myself early on for the sport of free flying…  hmmm?

  1. That photo and where life took you is truly remarkable. It seems flying is a recurring theme in the dreams of young boys. Even as an adult I had dreams of flying without anything – I could just fly, soar and swoop – I was Jonathan Livingstone Seagull! (even though he has wings)

    • I think I used that suitcase for 3 school years… certainly lots of memories. Yes, Clint is save and sound and dealing with the jetlag better than expected.
