Taking it (very) very easy,
I have to be honest here and say that during the last couple of years I have not been looking forward to the BIG holi-days. The “thing” unfortunately is that the whole world is doing Christmas, whether I like it or not, so I might as well get onboard. I would like to wish the day away like my birthday… but this “thing” is bigger than that. So, I started the day by making calls to South Africa… because in their time zone it was still Christmas eve and it was nice sharing a little time with friends and family. Not everything worked out as planned but I tried to reach the people that were not asleep. (you know who you were… LOL)
Soon after I joined good friends of mine, C & C, for what turned out to be Christmas lunch. I should have probably realised this would be the case when I was invited and also remembered to take with some gifts, but ugh… what a bad friend I am. They said we are just going to take it easy with a walk on the beach… right? So, we did go for a walk on the beach with their (and a friend of theirs’s dog) after we stuffed ourselves with way, way too much cheese as a starter (snack). Nevertheless, I had a great time and was feeling very privileged to be part of their Christmas and LUNCH (<-Yes, it deserves capital letters). Like I said yesterday, I realised on the trail how much I miss my friends and it was great to catch up. Note to self – I should take better care of my friends.
Afterwards all this I met up with Emily, she is housesitting for a friend and looking after a beautiful (shadow of a) cat at the moment. It was nice to catch up with her as well and have a drink or two before heading back to my lonely home. She and Clint both spent a lot of time and effort checking up on me while I am on the trail and for that I am thankful. Nice to have people around me, that gets me, understand me and like me for (the strange) person that I am. Thanks everyone and hope you had a merry Christmas.

Those Doggies – Cuteness Overload!
Happy to read you had a good Xmas day with Friends even though you not big on it .. was hoping that you would not be alone.
I left for Houtbay – Xmas morning for the next 8 days – to spend time with some special “Family” Friends whom I have not seen in quite some time – 15 of them – phew – was quite overwhelming – LOL
But a good day ‘-)
Yes, the little one (Xena) belongs to my friends and the other one was just visiting them for the holidays. She is super cute and always excited to see me.
I am glad you got out of the house and spent some well deserved time with your alternative family.
