End of the week and the car is ready to be moved.

Week 1 is done,

Today was all about trying to fix the brakes without diving in too deep.  The plan is to move the car to a different location tomorrow and we would prefer to have at least some brakes, rather than nothing.  We bled the brake lines again, from the “bottom” to ensure the bubbles were removed and fitted the extra bits and pieces like switches and stuff to make sure they don’t affect something we might not understand.  The result was unfortunately no better than what we started with, so it will have to be okay for now.  We can remove the brake master cylinder after the move when we have more space for further investigation.
We restored the temporary fuel line fix of the previous day and started filling the fuel tank.  I tried my (revision 2) fuel filler cap gasket, but still “no cigar”… so more crafty work will be required tonight.  We put the four wheels on and lowered the car off the stands.  My dad made some more carburettor adjustments before we fitted the air cleaner and “shaker” nose.  Adjusted the little brakes we have and made sure the handbrake is working too.

Wow… Finally, it feels and looks like a car again, something that can drive on its own power.  We removed all the covers and cleaned/cleared the area around the car in preparation to reverse it out of the shed, first thing tomorrow morning.  Feeling really good tonight, we had a good run for the week, even with the brake problem being outstanding.  Mom even helped us to secure temporary, 3rd party insurance for the little time the car has left in South Africa, thanks Santam.  Time to go home for a well deserved coke and a smile… it is Friday night after all.
