Happy leap-day.

Trying to sleep late and get some rest,

To be 100% honest, I enjoyed my time on the TA, but it is not always filled with periods of good rest. Some of the days are long and tough, and some nights are not as peaceful as I would have liked. Because I continue to not wear any form of wristwatch or clock, I remind myself of a rooster, starting the day before sunrise and going back to bed at dusk. Getting to the point -> This is why I tried to sleep late this morning and snuggle in between all my pillows. BUT There is just so much to do in so little time, so I am sorry, but a little planning is required and a list is needed… just one list, until I am back on the trail.

One thing I did make time for today, was going for a flight with a good friend. While I was on the trail, I couldn’t help myself standing at certain places and think, “If only I had my glider here”. I pressed pause on flying last year in August for reasons that I still don’t completely understand, but today I needed to reaffirmed if I would like to continue paragliding or not.  Safe to say, I still have the skills and I did enjoy flying today.
After Taylor’s Mistake it was time to tick off a bucket list item I had since my early twenties… Seeing Matchbox Twenty live in concert, and surprisingly, here in Christchurch of all places. Someone special introduced me to their music in the early 2000’s (when they left to go work in New York) and there are a couple of their songs that have special and deep meaning to me. While on the trail I listened to a lot of their music to ensure I could sing along to their latest tracks, but the older ones are embedded in my mind, connected to other fragile memories. I was hoping for a good show and that they would play some of their older songs and they did not disappoint.  Thanks Matchbox Twenty, great show, good sound and lighting and an awesome selection of songs that you performed.  In the end it was super emotional for me as expected and I am sure I was the only person in the stands that had a sit-down and a cry when they played “Bright Lights”.
Deep down, I know someone special was there in spirit.
