Helping out with a little project.

And NO, not one of mine, not another pump LOL,

I got up this morning and dad and I decided (or at least I managed to convince dad) to help him do some actual work today.  We looked around yesterday and one of his solar inverter projects needed a battery shelf/stand made, and the battery moved.

I helped him install the original system, many many years ago and I must be honest, still very proud of my work.  Dad found some left over wood, laying around and we got together outside… “on the tools”.  We agreed on a rough plan and design and I was designator power tool operator for the day, honing my jigsaw skills.

Soon, the shelf was in, in time for lunch and a well deserved coke.  We disconnected the cells from one another and moved them into place, with nice hardboard spacers in between, to help them “settle” better on the shelf and aid with cooling in the warmer months.
Spend a little time “fixing” up a couple of other small things on the system that is running and schemed and planed on the next step of the project.  Cannot work too late tonight because sundown equals the start of their sabbath.  While packing the tools away, I had a glimpse at this little guy called a “Skurwe Jantjie” around here.  Maybe an appropriate name for a test rack at the old Leopard… but doubt if everyone will be able to pronounce it.

    • Jigsaw yes, not jigsaw puzzle luckily… Pretty happy with the outcome but wish I could have done more.

You can at least say “Skurwe Jantjie”

  1. We often take electricity for granted until you have power cuts deliberately inflicted like you do in South Africa, or as the result of a fragile network like we do here in our part of the city, so having solar power in Ceres and a standby generator in our case is quite a blessing.
The Skurwe Jantjie looks almost prehistoric!

    • The Solar project is at my parents in law-ish place, not Ceres, but I wish my folks could have solar power in Ceres as well. You should try saying “Skurwe Jantjie”… LOL
