Invercargill to Bluff,

Bluff is actually one of the starting points of the Te Araroa, but the directions of the stints, and how they link up is not all that important to me.  I started the roughly 35km route to Bluff this morning, before 7am from Invercargill, and only one thing was a certainty… I am going to get drenched by the rain.  The track is mostly a shared cycle route along the river estuary (Invercargill) and bay inlet closer to Bluff.  The clouds looked ominous and in the distance I could see the lookout point hill behind Bluff.
A bit of the route in between the start and end of the stint is unfortunately road walking next to my absolute most disliked road in NZ… state highway 1(SH1).  Ugh, it took a lot of will power no to extend my thumb and ask for a lift from one of the passing cars.

All and all, there were still beautiful scenery and bird life along the way.  I did get soaked and diverted the final bit of the route directly into town, since the lookout point was above the clouds.  I will make it up tomorrow when the weather is hopefully better.

    • Thanks Marnie, only time will tell what the end is going to look like. Maybe I completely lose my marbles… who knows, maybe I have already?
