Up, out of bed early,

After staying on Birchwood Station in their privately owned cabin, it was on to a BIG day.  Sun was out, light winds and more than 26km to cover.  Almost the complete day will be on Mt Linton Station private property, and there are some rules and regulations that applies to TA walkers.

First climb of the day is almost to the top of Mt Linton. I speak under correction but I believe the farm is one of the largest stations in NZ.  Most of the first bit is track is through sheep and cattle pastures.

The further you go, the more remote it gets, crossing rivers and the landscape change to a more uncultivated tussock hills with forest. It turns out to be beautiful the last little bit, losing all sense of connection to the world and cellphone coverage.
The final picture looks down on where I will be camping tonight.  Tenting tonight at Telford Campsite [which is basically a toilet and a stream]. Wind is picking up and rain inbound, but all will be fine.
Happy belated V-day to you all.
