And we are going to have a great time… I can feel it,

Final (small) preparations this morning, getting a few things out of the way before my brother in law-ish and his wife arrives later today from the big smoke, Melbourne.  Clint came by to have a quick chat and greet me… because we haven’t seen one another on the hill since he collected me at the airport unfortunately.  He is such a great guy.  There was just not enough time to paraglide in the last week and good to have a word or two quickly by the kitchen counter.  Emily also stopped in for a meditation this morning and for what followed, a good and proper deep conversation about some things.  It is very important to stop and truly listen when you ask someone how they are doing, or how are your parents doing…  Lots of emotions spilled over but I (believe) I got a sense of how someone truly felt, and how I truly felt to be honest.  In any case… soon we had to cut that short because I had to run to the airport to collect my family.  (<-Yes, family)

One of the things that have been on my mind lately is starting to look for a job.  How much time should I put into this effort and what level of priority should it have compared to the TA trail and other things like finishing my sabbatical?  I am trying my best not to worry about it to be honest, but it is hard.  Perhaps the universe gave me a little sign of reassurance today, when I bumped into an old colleague from the Leopard at the airport today.  I mean, what are the odds of that happening… well in Christchurch probably not so small, but nevertheless it was good to see and old familiar face.  Great conversation and a good catchup and connection.  I will try and keep the job search on the back burner for now, but make a conscious effort to let everyone know that I am in the market for a job… soon-ish.

So, with the family having arrived, we dropped the bags at home and after traffic subsided a little, took them for a small tour around town.  We went up the port hills as well, so that I could show them the size of the place and point at a thing or two… to ensure there is some action today LOL.  We had dinner at the Little High and we made it back home okay.  They bought me a Christmas gift, and it turned out to be my first and only Lego for the year!  You guys really shouldn’t have and secondly… maybe I should have waited until Christmas to open it.  O well, I cracked out some Lego for all of us to play with around the table and caught up on what the year has been all about.

  1. Sounds like a great start with the Family-Brother-in-Law-ish – Lego and all
Who says Xmas pressies only need to be opened on Xmas day – LOL – ENJOY!

Would be great if we could have a word or two around the kitchen counter – just really missing this Friend of mine since his departure ..
And then the next Friend is moving / leaving abroad early next year – another one! “-(
I honestly dunno how many more departures on special friends my heart can take .. as mentioned – it hurts a lot – always ..

Reading your comments on your time with Emily .. makes me wonder if I maybe need an Emily ….

TA trail and other things like finishing your sabbatical – First – before JOB searh!
And yes, it is hard to not think about it .. I know it so well
When I did my sabbatical in 2019 – I constantly worried about not having a JOB – and that honestly did me no good –
Even though I enjoyed that year – I probably would have enjoyed it way more by not worrying – and at the end of the day you know how the Universe completely turned things later – so the worry at that stage – again did me no good ..

ps – Phil pointing at something again – LOL 😉

    • It is sad to lose friends, and in your case, especially to another country… stay strong Urvi. Hope your house guest will lighten up our home a little.
