Trying to stay in touch with the world while sharing my adventure, posting some photographs and recording my thoughts.

New week, new opportunity(ies).

Looking at the calendar,

I actually have a little time here in NZ left before I go on my international trip later this year.  This made me think about what I said yesterday about the NZ Orion aircraft… “It is amazing how 1960’s aircraft engineering was still in service in 2023 due to updates, good servicing and maintenance.”  This year (Floating Phil) is all about giving my own 1980’s body and mind a little “update”, a “good service” and catch up on “maintenance”.

This week I am looking into finding new volunteer work, even part time work if it looks interesting, but I need to be careful that it does not become a full time job.  I want to experience different things and I have the time now to do so, but don’t want to be overwhelmed with pressure.  I am also applying for a NZ Police clearance certificate, since many non profit, volunteer organisations request this as well.

Looking at volunteering at the SPCA too, but need to stay cautious and vigilant.  The last time that I volunteered at the SPCA it was in Papua New Guinea, and I soon came home with “Max”.  My life doesn’t have space for a pet right now and I might feel guilty not having the time to invest.
