After “airing” it out overnight, it was time to get it all back in my harness,

It is all part of maintenance, recommended yearly if you did not need to deploy your reserve.  So after pulling it all out yesterday (Thanks Clint) and airing it overnight, it was time today to get my reserve back in my harness.  This is a new reserve I purchased in late 2022 and the first time I am repacking it by myself.  The construction is a little different from what I am used to, so it took a bit of time to orientate myself and make sure I followed the correct instructions.  Who would have thought that my yoga mat, blocks and weights would become so handy while repacking my reserve?

In the end it all went well, my reserve is back in the deployment bag plus all if it is back in my harness ready to be used.  Thankfully I only used/deployed my reserve parachute once during an advance training week, and hope to never need it again. (Touch wood)  Throwing it will most likely save my life in a real disaster, but I am not looking forward to the 5 meters per second descent rate landing.

After all this, it was time to leave home.  I went out to dinner with a friend in Lincoln, a small town outside Christchurch.  I have to feed the Haaikie sometimes, and pizza followed by a movie was a great excuse on a Friday night.  We watch Back to Black, a biographical drama film based on the life of English singer-songwriter Amy Winehouse.  Such a shame what happened to her life and I cannot help to wonder what other great productions she would have released if it turned out different.  She died when she was 27 years old.  Another reason we should remember to live every single day, because we never know when it might be our last.
