Sneaky flights at Taylor’s Mistake.

In overall “strange” weather conditions, I managed some airtime today,

Most of my early morning was consumed by umming and ahing about the weather from home and if it is worth a trip to the hill.  To tempt Murphy’s Law a little, I even contemplated doing the laundry, to see if making a semi-commitment to household tasks will swing the wind in my favor on the hill.  The actual conditions reported by the weather station were just contradictory to the predictions and in the end I caved… taking a drive to go see for myself.  (The garden work can wait right?)

Well, in what were very strange conditions, I did manage to add a couple of flights to my logbook today.  A number of short, ten-ish minute flights making sure I top land often to check the conditions are still good.  I made a conscious effort NOT to climb too high, in fear of ending up in a different, much stronger airmass that I did not wanted to be in.  In the end, this “flying NOT to climb” behavior ended up with me landing at the bottom in the parking lot on my last flight.
Walking back up the hill I realised what a shame it is that I lost so much of my walking fitness after being back from the trail.  Note to self: You need to spend more time exercising, walking up the hill a little more.
