Starting to feel like I accomplished something,
Leaving, may I add flagship status, Greenstone Hut this morning I realised that I am in Otago province. This means I am done with Southland and so, also done with 10% of the TA. More than 300km on foot through mostly rural Southland.
The forest is amazing, so lush and filled with birds and other things. Sometimes you have to wonder how nature comes up with the colours and textures from what seems like dirt.
Crossed a couple of rivers, all on wonderful bridges thanks to DOC.
Soon I was standing at the carpark, not having had cellphone reception for 6 days, hoping for a ride to the main road.
And here the universe finds another moment to tell me something. Out of the woods come a walking party of 3 people, one of them reminding me of my grandmother… yes, no typing mistake. She is 82 years old and just visited 3 huts on the Greenstone track. Phil, I said to myself, you are still in the prime of your life, do something with it, quick. This lady is making you look like a whimp. I conveyed my admiration to her, told her how proud I am of her, and gave her a well deserved hug…

That moment when the group came out of the woods is priceless and you are so right on every level. Grab life by the horns and make the most of every day and everything.
Yes, Clint. Reminds me of a song by “Beam” called (Seize The Day). Seize the moment, seize the day, the meter’s running, don’t stand in my way…
Wow Wow Wow on so many levels “-)
