Summer – with a capital “S”.

Wow, I thought Colorado was hot but this place is cooking,

I didn’t plan too much for today since I wasn’t sure how I would feel and what the weather would be like.  Francine gave me a lift to Talloires on the other side of the lake.  It is so beautiful here with lots of memories from my previous stays in Annecy.  It is early-ish in the morning and I booked my paragliding wing in for a service, inspection and line check at a local shop.  I don’t have access to these kind of services in New Zealand, so booked it in advance to make sure it is done and out of the way.  I also visited some of the other paragliding shops to get hold of a “demonstration model” wing, that I can borrow and test fly for the day.  With all of this admin out of the way, I walked down into Talloires “town” to visit the bakery and catch the bus up the hill.

Did I say this already???  It is spectacular here, even if it is almost too unbearably hot.  I had to walk the last bit up the hill, from the bus stop to the paragliding launch site at Montmin and wow, I “sweated like a pig”… not that I have been so close to a pig that I actually know if the saying is true.
I managed a couple of flights today, one of them making it back to the landing site of Planfait, close to Talloires.  In time to catch the shops still open, return my demo wing, collecting my own wing after the service and to stop for a cold coke.  Yes, I have given up on coke for a little while but needed one today.  Caught the last bus up the hill at 18:30 and flew to the landing in Doussard on my final flight of the day.  To be honest, I didn’t expect much of today, but it actually turned into quite an okay day.  Getting all the admin out of the way and scoring a couple of flights.  Made it home by 9 pm, time for dinner and some rest.

I took some action video today, but need a little more time to upload it.  Will post the link in my next post (hopefully).

    • Yep, like I said, didn’t expect it to be this busy. At least most of the “have to do” stuff in France is complete.
