Another beautiful day,
So trying to make the most of the fine weather, I am pushing on past Boundary Hut directly to Taipo Hut today.
After watching the sunrise this morning, gradually colouring in the mountains on the opposite side of the lake, it was time to leave Carey’s Hut and the Mavora lakes behind.
The scenery is getting a little dryer and the vegetation is changing again to being more tussock, less forest. Soon the nice 4WD track also stops, and the track falls back into the true TA condition… a footpath with some poles along the way.
In the distance, the footbridge on the other side of Boundary Hut, carrying on to the 18km mark for today, Taipo Hut.

Carey’s Hut is dwarfed by the sunlit mountain in the background, so adds a sense of scale. One can only try to imagine the feeling of peaceful and pleasant solitude amongst the magificance of the Otago mountains. I was going to suggest you should absorb and store it for later, but I’m sure you’ve already done that.
Yes Clint, like I said, photos does not do the scenery justice.
Nice to catch up on your last 3 days..
and always nice to read about some interesting facts.
The scenery just remains absolutely magical..

Hi Urvi, yes, a couple of times I stopped, looked around and reminded myself were I am. So privileged to be able to do this.
