A one-way flight: Booked,
I confirmed my flight booking today and I must admit, there is something weird about booking a one-way flight. Going somewhere and not planning on how you will get home, or where home might turn out to be. If “the Leopard” (<-this is what I call my current employment) does not get in the way, I will be flying to Invercargill on the 5th of Feb 2024 to start the Te Araroa Trail. Travelling, mostly on foot, from the southern tip of NZ in Bluff, over 3000km to Cape Reinga with only my backpack, the Hamster and the Haaikie.(<-Yes, another fictional character, this one lives mostly in my tummy.)
I can hear you thinking… Did Phil lost it completely? Has the hamster left the cage? Should we arrange an intervention?
No, the truth is that I am using the Te Araroa Trail as an entry point to some adventure. Rather than leaving home to some random place, I am using the trail as a rough guide to make sure I get good coverage of NZ. See new places, go on new adventures, meet new people and most importantly… get lost in the mountains.
If you are looking for more information visit the trail website here: www.teararoa.org.nz
Perhaps I will meet you on the trail too…
