Back to working on the car,
There were some small, minor work to complete on the car today, just fixing the last small leaks and things. Fitting the glovebox again, flushing the cooling system for the final time and fitting the sponges in the gaps around the fuel tank in the boot. The car is now at home and dad and I am finished with all the major work on the car. The to-do list is becoming more and more like a wish-list.
Dad replaced the gearbox oil and engine oil with filter while I was away at The Baths on the weekend and took it for a test drive or two. He even took my mom and sister for a drive out of town too. So, with everything done, all that remained was a good wash and clean before driving her to Worcester (a neighbouring town) tomorrow to get some official numbers and paperwork sorted.
It feels a little unreal, just a couple of weeks ago I arrived in South Africa, seeing her standing on jacks in a dark hole… we fired her up for the first time in ~24 years and now… here she is. Running, reliable and in great shape (and sound) going to Worcester tomorrow. Dad and I have achieved so much, with seemingly so little in such sort time. What can I say, other than wow. Feeling extremely privileged, grateful and sentimental.

Amazing what you have achieved with your father during the last couple of weeks, and how much the car says about you both. It is going to mean so much more to you in the future when you just stand back and admire it, or take it for a ‘hoon’ so far away in New Zealand.
Yes, yes and yes… It is what I wanted to achieve with this trip to South Africa. Who knows, maybe I will take you with for a ‘hoon’ in New Zealand.
