Where do you want to retire,

If you are anything like me, you probably have not given the subject any real thought. Strangely, I have visited a couple of places in the past that suddenly bring the subject to light. The first time it happened, I was in Madang in Papua New Guinea and I don’t know what it was, but the idea suddenly popped into my head… “I can retire here”. Sure it would be hugely impractical and any way you look at it, unsustainable, but I still believe I can retire in Madang.
Why am I writing all of this you ask, because this area, Glendhu Bay, Wanaka, Albert Town… “I can retire here”. Sure, I will never be able to afford it, but I believe I can retire here as well. I started my walk early this morning in the new shoes… easy flat walking around the lake, to kick things off. I had to laugh when I saw the Diggie Stick Library, someone actually had time to make this, and put it up here???
On with the walk, a stunner of a day in Wanaka, blue sky and so nice and warm. Walking next to the Clutha River, that drains Lake Wanaka, and the trees announcing the autumn is in full swing.
After this, decided that I feel good, so hiked up and down the small hill, Mt Iron, before returning to Lake Wanaka for a well deserved swim in the lake.
This is my last night here in Wanaka, tomorrow it is on to Lake Hawea and then the mountains. Watching the sun go down, at peace, I can most certainly retire here.
