Woodlaw Track – Day 7

All the way to Birchwood,

After my rest day,  and a good night’s sleep, I was up before sunrise.  So beautiful to watch the sun come up over the horizon while sitting on the step of Campsie Down.

Fine weather today, starting with a climb through some more NZ forests and then into pine plantations.

It was a good day walking out there, just slow and steady, not particularly in a rush to get anywhere specific.  Lots of birds along the way, and stopped a couple of times to wonder and listen.
Finally got a glimpse of the real mountains I will be stepping into tomorrow.  Such a nice view from the top of Woodlaw hill.  (Time to break out the pineapple sunglasses)

  1. The sunrise photo really captures the picturesque serenity that we sometimes take for granted in New Zealand. No better way to cleanse the mind than getting in amongst nature, away from the clutter and comotion of communities.
