Heading out today, via one of the easy routes,

After a great night of tenting, the group had a pretty late start (for the trial) this morning.  We finished a late breakfast and decided to leave out packs at the hut and first go in a different direction, to checkout the Cave Pools.  It was only a short walk and I expected the incoming rain to show up a little later in the day.
We spent a little time exploring some of the “nooks and crannies” but with the day being much cooler than yesterday, we didn’t commit to getting too wet or swimming.  It was impressive and incredible to witness how elements like the earth and water can shape one another over time… lots of time.  The rain was also threatening a little, so we returned back to the hut to grab our things and go.

We climbed a small hill after leaving the hut and received nice rewarding views of other places still left to be explored.  So nice around here and so many routes to follow to get to other waterfalls.
Light rain was threatening, so we got a little bit of a move on and not to many pictures followed towards the end.  Still, it was a great and relaxed way to wind down the Sunday (and the weekend) along with great conversation among friends.
We stopped for a quick coffee on the way to my car and after that it was back to Christchurch.  It felt strange to be driving my ute and not walking or using public transport.  I got so use to things and now suddenly I have the privilege of my own transport and doing what I want.  So fast…
